From pyrotechnics to lighting design to production management across theatre, festivals, and live events.
Jon’s journey in technical theatre started with pyro, and special effects remain at its heart — he supervises flame, CO2, laser and pyrotechnic effects as a qualified firer and ILDA laser safety officer, designing bespoke effects that push storytelling while keeping safety first, most recently as Senior Technical Operations Manager on Jamie Allan’s Amaze at New World Stages in New York, SFX Supervisor and Head of Video on The Lightning Thief, and Head of Rigging & SFX for Electromagnetic Field 2026.
As a lighting designer and programmer he brings an engineer’s precision to the stage, integrating ETC and GrandMA consoles with QLab, automation, timecode and Dante networks. Lighting credits include Associate Lighting Designer on Anything Goes, Production Electrician on Our House, and Lighting Designer on The SpongeBob Musical.
He has also led from the production office — Head of Production at Electromagnetic Field 2024 and Deputy Stage Manager at Boomtown — keeping every moving part running like a well-oiled machine.
